What Makes our Chicken so Healthy and Great Tasting?

  • Raised on Pasture

    Our chickens are raised on pasture. We move them to a fresh paddock of grass every day so they can forage. They get all the fresh air, sunshine and green grass they could possibly want.

  • Non-GMO Feed

    In addition to grass, chickens need grain to thrive. We feed our chickens non-GMO feed from our local feed mill, so you can be confident you are getting only healthy, well-fed poultry.

  • Premium Breed

    Along with a traditional broiler, we specialize in raising Heritage Cross chicken--a robust, slower growing red-feathered chicken with amazing old world flavor. You will taste the difference.

  • No Antibiotics

    We never treat our chickens with antibiotics so you aren't ingesting antibiotics in the meat you eat.

Farmers Markets

We sell our pasture raised chicken and eggs at local farmers markets. From November 15th, 2025 through the end of April 2026, we will be a full time vendor at Indy Winter Farmers Market. The market runs every Saturday from 9am-12:30pm at The AMP (1220 Waterway Blvd., Indianapolis, IN 46202). Come on out to see us! It's a fantastic market.

We are also a vendor at Market Wagon Indianapolis (an online only Thursday market).

Your Farmers

We're the Freed family and we're excited to have the honor to raise chickens for you. Duane started raising pasture raised poultry during warm summer days as a teenager. He'd ride his bike to the farm twice a day to move the chickens to fresh pasture. The chickens thrived on the grass and fresh air, and so did Duane. It was in these formative years that the dream was birthed to one day start a business raising the best tasting chicken you've ever had. And here we are today--FREED's pasture raised poultry.
